If you have thought about running for office, a good place to start is your local governing boards (school districts, library, park district, community college). These boards have a great impact on your day-to-day life and need capable, public-minded people to serve on them. To be included on the April 6, 2021 ballot for local offices, you need to gather petition signatures and then file the petitions between December 14 – 21, 2020. For more information, click HERE for the State of Illinois 2021 Candidate’s Guide. To find out about specific offices that will be up for election, contact the governing board(s) of interest to you.

Voters: Thank you for casting your ballots in record numbers! Regardless of the outcome, this election was a wonderful example of democracy in action. And it was not just a choice for President. As you saw on your ballots, there were choices for federal and state legislators, officials, and judges, as well as referenda -- all extremely important decisions to be made. Coming up early next year, there will be more choices for you to make on the local level. These local offices have a large impact on your day-to-day lives and deserve careful consideration. Please visit our website for updates on upcoming elections. The closeness of so many of this year’s races underscores how important it is for you to vote and encourage others to do so. Please keep up the momentum and continue to make your voices heard!
