Growing Resilience at Home: The Power of Native Landscaping

Tuesday, April 28, 2026
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Schaumburg Central Library, Rassmussen Room

Learn more about the importance of local and native planting, strategies for attracting pollinators to your home gardens and yards, how residential composting can be incorporated into home gardening, and why these steps are important for our environment.

About the Speaker: Allison Frederick is a conservation professional, science communicator, and nonprofit leader with deep experience in native landscaping, habitat restoration, and community education. She currently works with Citizens for Conservation, where she supports land protection and stewardship efforts across northeastern Illinois. With a background in wildlife management, volunteer engagement, and communications, Allison helps communities understand how native plants support biodiversity, clean water, and climate resilience—starting right in their own yards.

You can choose to attend this program in-person or watch online on Zoom. Please indicate your preference when registering.

The Civic Awareness Series is presented in partnership with the Schaumburg Library.
