Schaumburg Library – Adult Classroom
10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

(Plan to stay about 2 hours, but space will be available for 3 hours.

Optional Breakfast: Pastries, bagels, juice, and coffee will be provided.)

Please join us for the third meeting sponsored by LWVPA in support of our immigrant neighbors. Your participation is vital. We greatly appreciate any help you can offer to ensure these tasks are completed.

Meeting Overview

The meeting will include four parts. Following the first part (the film), you are invited to rotate among the various stations as you wish.

  • Know Your Rights Video & Discussion
We will view a video to better understand your rights as an observer of ICE activity and as an attendee at marches. Eyes on ICE: Document and Record. An ACLU lawyer will be present to answer questions.
  • Nonpartisan Sign-Making
Create nonpartisan signs to carry at marches or protests, such as the “No Kings 3” protest on March 28. Most materials will be provided—bring any graphics you would like to include and your creativity! For those who do not want to make their own signs, we will have some preprinted ones available. This station takes place simultaneously with whistle kit assembly and post card writing.
  • Whistle Kit Assembly
For those who already have signs prepared or who are not comfortable attending a rally, you can help by assembling “whistle kits.” These kits are distributed to organizations to help alert immigrants of their rights and notify communities of ICE presence in their neighborhoods. Takes place simultaneously with sign-making  and post card writing.
  • Postcard Writing
The cause will be determined based upon direction from LWV. Postcards will be provided. Please bring postcard stamps. Takes place simultaneously with sign-making and whistle kit assembly.
